But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.” – Leviticus 16:10

Different materials have symbolic meanings and we can learn these from the Bible. Goats’ hair was used in the curtains of the Tabernacle. Goats’ hair denotes the presence of a goat somewhere. A goat always represents a sinner!

And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats, on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:33

A goat represents that which is unacceptable! Goats’ hair, therefore, represents that which is unacceptable. A goat represents that which must be punished! A goat represents failure! Goats’ hair represents human failure that must be punished.

You must build with goats’ hair. Goats’ hair signifies the human failings and weaknesses that are ever present in men. God has decided to use failing and sinful human beings. He has decided to inhabit the place where failure-ridden human beings are. God is aware of our sins. As His presence is with us, it is with the knowledge of our many sins. He knows our weaknesses and they are before Him all the time.

A goat represents that which is unacceptable. Goats’ hair represents traces of human sins that are always present when we go to the presence of God. It is important to acknowledge your sins if you want to experience the presence of God.
