DO IT YOURSELF!
READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12
And the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:8-10
In the ministry, people do not get chosen because, like the foolish virgins, they expect someone else to do things for them that they should do for themselves.
1. Knowing the word of God: No one can read or study your Bible for you. No one can memorise scriptures for you. No one can listen to messages for you. No one can meditate on the word of God for you. No one can receive a revelation of the scripture for you. You have to know the word of God yourself.
2. Prayer: No one can pray the prayers you need to pray for yourself. You need to speak to God yourself. You need to call on God yourself. Some people employ prayer warriors to pray for them. But nothing can replace the prayers you need to pray personally.
3. Holiness: No one can be holy for you. The scripture teaches that everyone must know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour (1 Thessalonians 4:4). No one can fight fornication for you. No one can live a sanctified life for you.
4. Humility: No one can be humble for you. The scripture teaches that we should humble ourselves (James 4:10). You have to do the things you have to do in order to humble yourself and go low. Be meek and lowly! Pride is an invisible and dangerous enemy. No one can humble himself on your behalf.
5. Anointing: No one can become anointed for you. No one can receive the Holy Spirit for you. When the Holy Ghost fell on a hundred and twenty people in the Upper Room, there was a flame for every head (Acts 2:1-3). There is an anointing for every single person. No one receives the Holy Spirit on behalf of someone else.
