READ: 1 Samuel 19:9-18
“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten …” – Joel 2:25

Michal was a woman who had two husbands. She was happily married to David for some years, until her father, Saul quarrelled with David, causing him to flee from their marital home. Michal even helped him escape (2 Samuel 3:14-16).

David became a fugitive and when it looked as though he was never going to return, Michal married another man called Phaltiel. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Michal now had two husbands. Obviously, this is not the ideal will of God for anyone.

There are many women like Michal. When you were young, perhaps peer pressure made you give in to numerous relationships. God understands your background. God knows that there are people who remain virgins because they have never walked into the circumstances that you did. God understood and forgave Michal. Woman, it is not your fault! Do not condemn yourself. Rise up and walk into a new life.

Perhaps it is now obvious that you married the wrong person! Perhaps your children have the wrong kind of father because of the mistake you have made. Perhaps you are at a daily risk of acquiring AIDS. You wonder, “What will happen if my children are left without a mother, in the midst of their years.” Do not condemn yourself. The grace of God can keep you and give you a way forward. Our God is a God who makes all things work together for good. Perhaps, like Michal, God will restore you to a place of honour.
