Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
Jesus spoke of three things that people do not usually see.
1. Hidden prayer: He said when you pray, go into your closet and pray quietly and secretly. He will reward you openly. Prayer is one of the hidden things that must be present in your life if you are to do well in God.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Matthew 6:6
2. Hidden fasting: He said when you fast do not let it be seen and known by everyone. It is one of the hidden things for which you will receive a reward. Your continual fasting and waiting on God will earn you many rewards in heaven.
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Matthew 6:17-18
3. Hidden giving: Jesus also spoke about giving. He said when you do your alms, do it secretly. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing and you will receive a reward.
Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Matthew 6:2-3
Indeed, it is the hidden unseen aspect of your life that will determine the level to which you will go. Are you okay on the inside?
