READ: Psalm 19:14
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” – Proverbs 18:21

When we talk about death, we imagine standing by graves weeping and sobbing our hearts out. Can you believe that the tongue apparently controls this terrible thing called death?

You can speak either “death” or “life” into your life. You can also speak either death or life into your marriage. If your marriage is dying, decide to speak life into it. Say positive things about your spouse. You are speaking life into your marriage.

There are some pastors who speak death into their ministries and churches by complaining about one thing or the other. I do not complain about the ministry. I consider it a privilege to be a minister.

A pastor’s wife once said mournfully to her husband, “Now that we are in the ministry, we have no privacy. The church members think that everything comes directly from the offering. We have lost our self-respect.” I said to her, “Do not complain about the ministry. See the many positive aspects. People’s lives are being changed. You are involved in the most worthwhile job of all.”

I told her, “When you get to Heaven you will have an extra reward.” I asked her to say to herself, “I’m glad I’m in the ministry. I’m glad I have an opportunity to serve the Lord. I’m in the best job of all.” Then she brightened up. You see, you can speak happiness and joy into every aspect of your life.

This is the Word of the living God. Death and life are under the control of the tongue.
