A GOOD WAR

READ: 2 Timothy 2:3-5

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
1 Timothy 1:18

Twenty is the age when you are ready for war! Twenty is the age when you are ready for ministry.

Ministry is war! Ministry is the good fight of faith. “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12). Paul referred to the ministry as warfare. If you have any experience with ministry, you will know that it is a war. It is a fight for your life.

Paul calls it a good fight because ministry is a fight for eternal rewards. Ministry is a good fight because there is a good reason for the war. We are fighting for people’s lives! We are fighting for souls and that is a very good cause! Most wars have a foolish cause.

When Moses needed an army who would fight for the children of Israel, he called up those who were twenty years old and above. By the age of twenty you must be ready to go to war.

We have a good cause to fight for. Our war makes sense! Our war will have a good outcome! Our war is against the forces of wickedness who have captured this world. Our war is against the devil who is marching millions of people to hell every day.

Everything that is required of you when you are a soldier will be required of you when you are at war for the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is advancing. Jesus is coming soon! We need to take territories for Jesus.
