The reason why it is difficult to follow a man of God is because he is doing many little things. Those little things are working together for his good. I remember listening to Derek Prince one night. He spoke about a strong warning that the Lord had given him when He commissioned him into the ministry. He said the Lord told him, “You must obey me in the big things and you must also obey me in the little things.”
I have sent out many missionaries myself. I have found that those who do well are those who obey me in the little things. One day I sat with a missionary. We discussed his church. I realised he was concerned about many big things. He was concerned about prayer, fasting and achieving church growth in many ways. But I had two simple instructions for him. These instructions looked like little things but they were the main instructions. This missionary did not obey me because the instructions seemed frivolous. A year later, this missionary was a failure!
If you take an airline, you will find out that the differences between airlines are not big things. They are little things! The big things are the same! The makers of the plane are the same! There are only two major plane manufacturers: Airbus and Boeing. There are not many variations in the types of aircrafts. An aircraft will either be a Boeing plane or an Airbus. It is the little things in the plane that matter. The service, the attendants, the pleasantness of the staff and whether they are on time. Those are the things that make an airline successful.
