READ: Philippians 4:10-19
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty…” – Proverbs 3:9-10
One of the favourite verses of Charismatic Christians is:
…my God shall supply all your need accord- ing to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus… Philippians 4:19.
However, if you take the time to read the verses before this popular Scripture, you will find out that Paul had received immense support from the Philippian Christians.
He was writing back and minis- tering a blessing of God to those who had supported him in the ministry. You will discover that that particular blessing was directed at the financiers of his missionary
Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only… Philippians 4:15.
Do we not have thousands of Christians whose needs have not been met? Certainly! I see them everyday! But God can and will supply our needs if we line up with His Word. God has anointed certain men to do His work. Jesus said, whoever receives you is actually receiving me.
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me… Matthew 10:40.
The Word of God abounds with examples of divine provision for those who finance God’s servants.
