READ: 1 Corinthians 12:1- 11
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” – 1 Corinthians 12:7
Years ago, there was a little known pastor who flowed in all kinds of weird manifestations of the Spirit. I was curious, childlike, and I wanted to learn as much as I could. I began to attend programmes where he was ministering. I would watch in amazement as this pastor
ministered under a peculiar anointing. Every kind of manifestation of the Spirit would take place.
I was surprised at the derogatory comment another pastor made about this “minister of manifestations”. With a sense of overconfidence he intimated, “These manifestations take us nowhere and there is nothing to them. What we need is the Word.” With this attitude, we cut ourselves from new and higher dimensions of God’s kingdom! God has intentionally given bits of knowledge to different parts of His body to make us need each other and ask each other for help. Today I am very comfortable in that dimension of ministry. I minister in the manifestations and demonstrations of the Spirit of God.
When I wanted to go into the healing ministry, I prayed and sought the Lord. He pointed out a particular minister and said I should follow him to receive an anointing to minister to the sick. Gradually, I climbed into a very difficult but worthwhile aspect of ministry. What an arduous journey it is to enter into new dimensions of God’s kingdom! Dear pastor, you may be kept out of many wonderful aspects of God’s kingdom because of your overconfidence, and mistaken self-importance!
