READ: Ecclesiastes 2:1-17
Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 2:11
Knowing you are predestined to an eternity with Jesus gives meaning to your life.
1. Pleasure on this earth is useless and pointless! Thank God for eternity! Heaven is your destiny. You are predestined to walk on the streets of gold.
I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 2:1
2. Following the desires of your eyes is pointless and vain! Thank God for eternity! Heaven is your destiny. You are predestined to walk on the streets of gold (Revelation 21:21).
All that my eyes desired I did not refuse them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart was pleased because of all my labor and this was my reward for all my labor. Thus I considered all my activities which my hands had done and the labor which I had exerted, and behold all was vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 (NASB)
3. Trying to be wise on this earth will not help much. Similar things happen to wise men and to fools. Thank God for eternity! Heaven is your destiny. You are predestined to walk on the streets of gold.
Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 2:15
4. Painful sufferings and travail at work is pointless. Thank God for eternity! Heaven is your destiny. You are predestined to live in heaven.
Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 2:17
