Today, I want to share with you about your wonderful salvation. In this wonderful salvation are many things for you.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11). This word ‘savior’ is a Greek word. The Greeks believed in people who were deliverers and could preserve them. So, this was a word they gave to their gods. Some of their common gods were Zeus, Apollos and Epicurus. Now you have a savior and you have been saved when you know Jesus. He is the powerful man saving your life. You must decide to be closer to your savior because there are many things that he has done for you and will do for you. “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world” (1 John 4:14). Jesus has come to be a preserver and protector over us. Today, you do not need any other savior. Jesus is your savior and mine as well.
Now, what exactly is Jesus saving you from? Before Jesus came, there was no electricity, running water, universities, roads and much more. After He left, there were still none of those things. It then begs the question what did he save us from? Since all these problems were there and continued to exist even after His departure. “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:20-21). Jesus did not bring water, universities, roads, cars and etc. but He came to save us from our sins. Sin is one of the biggest problems we have in the world. Once there is evidence against you about a sin, you are going to jail. I once went to a Liberian prison that was full of thieves, liars, murderers and many more people. In this prison, they had written on a sign board the number of people who were in the prison for various acts of crime committed. That sign was something that struck me. When you read it, you also get the feeling that you belonged in prison. Do you think the people in that prison are praying for a car, a job or anything like that? No! They are praying for a savior to come and release them. Now, there is a very large prison waiting for all Africans, Europeans, Americans or anyone in the world who has committed crimes. This prison is hell! In this prison, everyone who has committed a crime cannot escape unlike the prisons of this world. When God sent Jesus, He decided to save us from the number one problem that is haunting us which is sin. If you have ever told a lie, stolen, committed adultery, cheated, been jealous, fornicated or anything like that, you are a sinner. You have been found guilty of going to prison. However, today, I want to introduce Jesus to you. He is the only one who can save you from going to the prison called hell. Believe in Him and accept Him into your life and you will be saved. Thank God for Jesus.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).
