Today’s post is based on a message I preached on March 6 2016. Click on the “PLAY” button above to listen to the “Spirit of Revelation”.
Today, I am going to be sharing with you all about one of the branches of wisdom. I believe that God himself will have a great blessing for you through this message.
“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” – 1 Corinthians 2:1-2
Knowing Jesus is enough wisdom. The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. When you see people who are focused on Jesus, they often find others coming to them telling them that they are dealing with basics and need to do something more. However, Apostle Paul says that he determined not to know anything among the people except Jesus Christ. Brethren, let us believe and accept the word of God and what Apostle Paul says, which is, knowing Jesus and all about Jesus is enough and more than enough. Sometimes as pastors, when God uses us to build things, at a point, we begin to think that we have the ability to be leaders or builders. It is the wisdom of God that gives us the ability to do such things. We are neither builders nor politicians.
The wisdom of God is completely superior to any form of human thinking. The wisdom of God makes you do certain things that neither politics, education or wealth will get you to do. These are plans that God himself is executing with or without you. There are many types of wisdom in the world including the wisdom of men! “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” (1 Corinthians 2:4-7). There is a wisdom that is superior to the wisdom of men or the wisdom of princes: the wisdom of God. God has a special kind of wisdom that is in line with His word; the word of God often contradicts the wisdom of man. The wisdom of God cannot be learnt in a classroom. It is wisdom in a mysterious and hidden package. The spirit of revelation is the spirit that unravels the hidden wisdom of God. It gives you insight to packages of secrets which God has. These secrets contain the real blessings of God. You are beginning to increase in wisdom!
The supernatural wisdom of God will give you long life and riches. Proverbs 1 gives us the secret to becoming wise! “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” (Proverbs 1:5). Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). Hearing the word of God makes you wise and wise people hear! Simply put, a man of wisdom is a hearer. When I started the ministry, I recognized that my hearing of the words of Kenneth Hagin propelled me into another level of the anointing. I am who I am simply because I heard the word of God from great men of God like Kenneth Hagin and Benny Hinn. No school will ever tell you that a wise man is a hearer. Only the word of God will do so. A wise man is an avid hearer. Listen to the word of God on the podcasts. Don’t be too big to listen to this wisdom. Begin to increase your level of listening to messages and soaking in the word of God. Become an avid hearer of the Lord! Receive this wisdom that is for your glory!
A wise man will also continue to learn and receive counsel “…and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels”. It is very sad to see people who have stopped learning. They are satisfied with the little they know. There is a lot to learn in this world. Do not be satisfied with the little you know. Continue to learn! There are also some people who cannot receive wise counsels. Advice is such a fantastic thing to have in your life. Pray to be advisable. Never grow out of the ability to receive advice. It is a sad thing to think you know it all. When you are unable to attain advice, people will no longer want to open their mouths to speak to you. Do not dismiss wise counsels.
To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings” (Proverbs 1:6). The sayings of a wise man appear dark and mysterious. If you are told that the secret to prosperity is diligence it is very easy to understand. However, when you hear that the secret to prosperity is to seek the kingdom of God first and his righteousness, it appears very mysterious and abnormal! How can one become rich by following God! This contradicts the wisdom of man but believe me, this is the greatest wisdom you can ever receive! This is indeed the dark sayings of a wise man! Only those with wisdom will understand it. Another secret to prosperity I will share with you is to owe no man. This is because the borrower is a servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7) That is why we struggle so much with people in debt because their master is always calling them. What really determines your prosperity is a blessing. The Bible tells us to labor not to be rich. Why? Because it is the blessing of the Lord that makes a person rich and adds no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22). Receive these darks sayings because this wisdom is for your glory. You are becoming a wise person because you hear, listen to counsel and understand the dark sayings of the word of God.
