This past Sunday, I continued with my series entitled “Principles of Becoming A Strong Christian” with the First Love Church at the University of Legon, Ghana. “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).
As believers, we are instructed to be strong in the Lord. We need to be strong spiritually for ourselves and not for anyone else. We must never depend on pastors or prophets to be strong for us. God wants all of us to be strong and that is why he instructs us to be strong. If you are strong, you will not be led away by foolishness.
One of the ways to become strong is to be active. Activity in church allows us to become stronger spiritually and stronger in the Lord. We can only become stronger in the gifts we have if we exercise them. We must sing, dance, pray and go out on outreach!
The fifth principle of becoming a strong Christian is having salvation. For us to do well, our heads have to be covered with the helmet of salvation. We must have a deeper understanding of our salvation or else we will not be found lacking as strong. In putting on the helmet of salvation, we must put on an understanding and knowledge of salvation.
I continued to share with them on the 14 dimensions of salvation. An understanding of these dimensions will give us a knowledge of salvation. These dimensions include:
- The love of God and Salvation
- Sin and Salvation
- Heaven, Hell, and Salvation
- The Blood of Jesus and Salvation
- Salvation and the invitation
- Salvation and the new life (becoming a new creature)
- Salvation and the Great Judgement
- Salvation And the Savior (Jesus Christ)
- Salvation and Eternity
- Salvation and The Kingdom of God
- The Kingdom of God and the Power of Christ
- The testimonies of people who got saved
As we grow deeper in our understanding of salvation and the different dimensions, we will always have it on our minds. We will never be willing to exchange salvation for something lower. Brethren, I pray that you may be strong in the Lord, so that in the day of temptation you will be able to stand.
