HOW TO WALK IN LOVE

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks” – Ephesians 5:1-4

Love is a very important area of our lives. That is why we have a lot of problems in relationships and inter-relationships. What does it mean to walk in love? You can learn about what it means to walk in love by looking at what it does not mean. According to Ephesians 5, to walk in love does not mean to have sex. The Bible tells us to walk in love as Christ did. Obviously, Christ did not sleep with us so having sex does not mean that you are walking in love. This explains why people can have sex with each other and later kill each other. To walk in love means to have a godly characteristic and to depart from the ways of a wild animal.

When someone comes close to you, they should feel love emanating from you. Your true godliness is measured by the amount of Christian love found in you. It is not determined by the amount of prayer because God does not pray. If you want to be like God, it is not prayer but love that must be found within you. To walk in love is do something that the other person perceives as love. We all understand and interpret what love means differently. That is why if you love someone, you must love them according to their definition of love and not yours. God tells us that if we love Him, we should keep His commandments. To God, loving Him means obeying His commandments.

May God grant you the grace to walk in true love. Blessings!

A SOWER WENT TO SOW

The parable of the sower is one of the well known parables of the Bible. After Jesus preached about the parable of the sower the people’s response was this, “whence has this man this wisdom and these mighty works” (Matthew 13:54). In Matthew 13:3 Jesus said “a sower went out to sow”. The kingdom of God is what we are all involved in today and Jesus used the parable of the sower and the mustard seed to better explain this to us. Colossians 1:13 says that we are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear son Jesus. This means that there are only two countries in this world, the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of heaven. So you must either have a kingdom of heaven or darkness passport. If you are going to do well you must have a passport to the kingdom of heaven.

Every country you step into has its own rules which you must obey if you want to be happy there. In the same way, the kingdom of heaven is governed by rules. One of these rules is the principle of sowing seeds. So if you come into God’s kingdom, you must respect the ministry of sowing seeds. If you want to do well, you have to know that the kingdom of God is like sowing a seed. One of the greatest wisdom keys is the key of the seed. The seed is the greatest wisdom and law in the kingdom of God.  When it is first planted, it cannot be seen but when it grows it becomes a big tree. That is the way to harvest, increase and multiply. In the kingdom of God you must respect small things and have eyes for them because they are the most powerful things.

In the kingdom of God, the way up is the way down. If you want to be great, you must be willing to first go down. Nobody can go up in the kingdom of God unless they go down (die to themselves). When God first called me to work for Him, I had to first go down by enduring the shame and despising of others. I had to leave my profession as a doctor, which is more respected in this world, to become a pastor of children and students. Today, the church is working by the grace of God.

Let us learn to respect the rules that govern the kingdom of God. May the principle of sowing become a part of our lives each and everyday.

Blessings!

HOW FAITH WORKS

What is faith? The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1 that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Romans 10:17 “so now faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” tells us how faith works. Faith is important for all of us as Christians. To be a strong and good Christian you need faith. Faith is  a spiritual power. Many of us believe that faith is an attitude, a logical thinking or a certain way of thinking that makes us positive but that is not the case. Positive thinking does not mean that one has faith. Faith is more than positive thinking or a good attitude. Faith is a power which is given to human beings to help them get towards God. It bypasses the differences that exist among human beings in terms of money, society and what you have. Faith sets all of that apart and equalizes us all. Whether you have money or not or whoever you are, faith brings us all down to the same level. Anybody can have faith. We are saved by faith. There is no good work that you can do that will be good enough to get you saved. Nothing you can do can undo the things you have done, only faith can make this possible. Faith is a very powerful tool we have and as we are developing as Christians, we need faith more than anything.

We need faith because without it, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). It is impossible to make God happy if you do not have the faith to first and foremost believe in Him and believe that He is able to do everything. Faith and in essence Christianity is not about receiving information like we do at school lectures. Faith comes specifically by hearing! So a Christian must be an intentional hearer of the Word of God. To develop our faith we must be hearers of the Word of God. Whether we like it or not we end up believing what we hear. We must become more and more, men and women of faith who are full of faith. Having faith makes you a powerful and successful person. All the people who did well in Christ did well not because they were good people but because they believed. Believing (Faith) is a spiritual thing and your spirituality is directly proportional to it. In order to increase your belief you must increase your level of hearing. These levels include but are not limited to the following:

1. The word of God has no impact. This is when we hear the word but it has no impact on our lives and we do not understand it.

2. The word of God has a good impact on you. This means that we are excited about the message that is coming our way. This level is also called level 11% because we only retain that much when we hear something.

3. Listening to messages again (buying messages, subscribing to Christian podcast, CDs and DVDs). At this level, we listen to messages yet are unable to reproduce what we have heard. If you cannot find a way to listen to preaching over and over again then you are done for.

4. This is where we are now going deeper in God. At this level we now hear and reproduce what we have heard. A level of our spirituality is defined by our ability to teach what we have heard and learned ; committing them unto faithful men (2 Timothy 2:2).

Faith is more than a positive attitude but believing and hearing! To increase your level of faith go to the latest message section on daghewardmills.org to hear this message about faith.

IRON SHARPENTH IRON UK 2014

So soon, the first ever Iron Sharpeneth Iron Conference held in the UK this year has come to an end. This year marked the first time the conference had been held outside of Accra, Ghana and it was truly a success. People from all over the world and from various churches made their way to the UK to receive and be blessed by this year’s conference. The theme for ISI UK 2014 was The Gifts and Calling of God Are Without Repentance.  “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” – Romans 11:29

At this year’s conference, I began teaching on the four different phases of ministry, drawing from the life of Jesus Christ. I also spoke about catching the anointing and the importance of having the Holy Spirit lead you in all aspects of your ministry. Without the Holy Spirit, your ministry will be cut short. As the conference ended, I believe that we have all been changed. May we develop the art of hearing and being led by Holy Spirit. If you want to hear more from this year’s ISI UK you can visit the latest message section of daghewardmills.org or subscribe to my podcast.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY

“Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22-23

This scripture tells us that man is not just composed of a body but is made up of a spirit, soul and body and God wants to affect all parts of our being. This is why we must not spend our entire lifetime improving our bodies and ignoring our spirits. We must get to the place where we become spiritually mature Christians.

One symptom of a spiritually mature Christian is his or her ability to bear fruit. We all know that babies cannot have children. It is only at a certain age that we can start reproducing. When you are not mature as a Christian, you do not get involved in making anything fruitful but only play around. You come to church (which is a wonderful thing) but you do not contribute to anything in the church. It is not the length of time you have been in a church that determines your level of maturity but your fruitfulness. The more fruit you bear, the more mature you become.

Another important sign of maturity is when you become a teacher (Hebrews 5:12). There comes a time when we must impart the knowledge that we have received to others. We must move from the point where we are only concerned with ourselves (being fed spiritually) to a point where we feed others. This is a sign that you are a teacher and therefore spiritually mature.

Finally, having the fruits of the Spirit within you is a sign of your maturity. The fruit of the Spirit tends to manifest itself in a person when the Holy Spirit has been around them for a while. These fruits include love, joy, peace, long-suffering and more. The more of the fruits of the Spirit you have the more mature you become.

As we continue with the Healing Jesus Campaign  in Oda Ghana, we have seen many souls won, many lives touched and many have received their healing. No matter how many campaigns we go through, God never ceases to amaze us.  We pray for His grace to continue to be with us as we make it through the next couple days of the Oda Campaign. Visit healingjesus.tv today through April 4th at 7:30pm GMT to be a part of this life changing campaign.

Thank you all for your prayers and support and I pray that the Lord’s will is done through out this campaign. I see us all we all moving from being spiritual babies becoming mature Christians for the Lord.

Blessings!

SPIRITUAL MANHOOD

There are three main stages of growth spiritually. Just as in the physical realm there are the baby, childhood (toddler-teen years) and adult stages (man), there are similar stages in the spiritual realm. To be an adult in the spiritual realm entails you constantly feeding on the Word of God (1 Peter 2:2), having the ability to make wise decisions and more.

Repentance is also a big part of entering spiritual manhood! Our Christianity starts with repentance. If you have not fully repented of the things you used to do before you received salvation, you need to examine yourself. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 13:15, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves..” We must continuously examine ourselves to see where we are in the faith.

When you receive repentance, you begin your walk of faith in the baby stage. Christianity will not be exciting to you if you are a spiritual baby enduring and not enjoying all that Christianity entails. As Christians, we must master the elementary doctrines that will move us from being babies into adults. When the basics are not established in you, you are unable to call yourself a master and therefore a spiritual adult (man).

In order to become a spiritual man, there are many stages that one must pass through. One of those stages includes the stage of despising earthly things. In order to grow spiritually, you must learn not to place value on earthly things. Another stage of a spiritual man is having the ability to live and operate by faith. An ability to accept suffering is also an indication of a spiritual man. As a spiritual man, suffering becomes a part of your daily life, and you must learn to embrace it!

To hear more on spiritual manhood visit the latest messages page of www.daghewardmills.org. Also, the Healing Jesus Campaign team is in Mankessim in the Central Region of Ghana this week wining the lost at all cost. You can join us live tonight or on healingjesus.tv at 7:30pm GMT.

HOLINESS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

For the last couple of weeks, I have been preaching about the dangers that both boys and girls face! As boys and girls, we must understand the dangers that come along with being a particular sex. In order for us to escape these dangers the enemy throws at us, we must desire to be holy!

Usually, when we think of the word holy, we think it means abstaining from fornication. Holiness has very little to do with fornication. When something is described as holy, it means it is considered to be special because it is connected with God or a particular religion. Holiness does not only pertain to refraining from sexual sins, it means being specially separated and set apart.

In 1 Peter 2:9, the Bible talks about being a peculiar people and a holy nation. When you become holy, you become special to God because of your connection with Him. The Greek words for holy is ‘kadosh’ and for holiness ‘qodesh’. When you talk about holiness, there are certain things that are seen as holy:

  • Some lands are referred to as holy places. (Exodus 3:5)
  • Holy buildings (Exodus 28:29)
  • Holy sacrifices and offerings (Exodus 29:33)
  • Certain materials are holy (Exodus 30:24-25)
  • Holy water (Numbers 5:17)
  • Holy vessels (1 Kings 8:4)
  • Holy days (Exodus 20:8)
  • A Holy God (Psalm 98:1) (Leviticus 11:44)

Strive to be holy! Strive to be special, because God is special!

2014, THE YEAR OF PRAYER

new-years-banner (2)

As we enter into the new year, we are declaring it as the year of prayer! In Matthew 26:41 Jesus tells us to watch and pray or else we will fall into temptation. Watching and praying means praying when it is dark and when you are supposed to be asleep.Watching means being alert, and diligent while praying. Practically, watching goes hand in hand with prayer. When you are constantly distracted while praying, you will not be able to properly listen to and hear the voice of God. Prayer is inviting God’s hand into your life. In the coming year let us be found praying while others are sleeping. Praying is like having sex! If you don’t do it at certain times you cannot easily do it.

We must watch and pray because Jesus told us to watch and pray. This means that it is more important to watch and pray than to fast and pray. Furthermore, we must watch and pray because it is the only practical way to pray consistently for a long time. There are certain periods of the night when your sleep is the deepest. It is difficult and almost impossible to wake up at early hours of the morning to pray when you stay up late! Those are the times where you must rise up, watch and pray. Rising up early requires you to sleep early!

In 2014 we will be found praying in the early morning. On behalf of myself, my wife and all Lighthouse Chapel International pastors and members I would like to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Blessings!
