REASONS

Sometimes as Christians, we do things that we do not know or have reasons for. There are certain principles that are already established before we became Christians, so once we are saved, we continue in those principles not understanding the reasons behind them. When we have knowledge of why we do or do not do certain things, it strengthens our faith. We must have the answers to these questions that people ask us as Christians and we must have scriptural backing to why we are different, peculiar, odd, strange and different from all other. We always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope we have (1 Peter 3:15)  There are numerous questions we are all asked as Christians and these are the reasons behind them

1)Why are Christians different from unbelievers?
Titus 2:11:14 -  As Christians we must be peculiar, strange, odd, unusual and different for Jesus. If you are a Christian and there is no evidence that you are a Christian, then there is something wrong with you! It must be clear that you are a Christian. From the way you dress, the way you speak and the places you go or do not go. You must be different from your colleagues, your brothers, your sisters and your equals. Being peculiar is not an option it is qualification of a Christian. The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:9, that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and a peculiar people. We are different from unbelievers because we have been called to be different!

2)Why Christians do not have close friendships/relationships with unbelievers?
2 Corinthians 6:14 -  As believers the Bible says we are not to be equally yoked with unbelievers. The Bible calls unbelievers “unrighteousness” and we are suppose to be righteous! What does righteousness have to do with unrighteousness? What does light have to do with darkness? We are suppose to be lamps for Jesus, that shine bright wherever we go. A Christian should not have a close relationship with an unbeliever.

3)Why Christians do not go to parties?
1 Thessalonians 5:22 – This verse says that we should abstain from all appearances of evil. It doesn’t say we should abstain from all evil. We must purposely stay from the appearance of things that seem evil! As Christians, why must we go to certain places like bars, parties, clubs and pubs that have an appearance of evil? Though you may not be participant in what is being done there, it looks as though you are. Christians do not go to parties because we must abstain from all appearances of evil!

4)Why Christians do not fornicate?
1 Thessalonians 4:3 – A lot of unbelievers and even Christians ask this question. Why do we have to wait to have sex? The Bible says that is the will of God for us to abstain from sex before marriage. Having sex before marriage is called fornication and as Christians we must present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God (Romans 12:1). We must learn and practice how to wait! When we fornicate, we are inviting evil spirits into our bodies and we are going against the will of God!

5)Why Christians do not watch pornography?
1 Thessalonians 4:4 – Another question that is frequently asked is this one. Why shouldn’t Christians watch pornography? This question is answered by the question right above it. When you watch pornography, it leads you to have lustful thoughts and feelings which in turn lead to fornication. Only unbelievers act upon every feeling, craving, lust and desire. As a Christian, you must not watch pornography. Flee from youth lust!

These are some basic questions why we must all know and have answers for. When we are aware of why we do not participate in certain activities, we will be strengthened. May we all receive the grace to live as odd, peculiar and strange people for God.

Blessings!
