For the past several weeks, I have been preaching a series about developing relationships. It has truly been a blessing to me and I also believe it has been a blessing to those who have had an opportunity to hear these messages.

This week, I continued on the subject of relationships by speaking about the four pillars of divine relationships. Relationships are like a network that help us accomplish more and without them we can only accomplish little. Relationships are very important and it is necessary for all of us to develop them. We must develop the art of building relationships. The four pillars of divine relationships are communion, fellowship, contribution, and finally participation. These pillars of divine relationships allow us to build lifelong friendships with others. Once you have a good relationship with the Holy Spirit you will be able to have a good relationship with other people. The Holy Spirit is our helper and He will be able to aid us in our relationships if are close to Him first.

The pillar of communion is the ability to interchange and share intimate thoughts and emotions with others. The pillar of communion can be difficult if you are a person who is very secretive. Without the pillar of communion and interchanging of emotions and intimate thoughts, you will not be able to build solid relationships.  The second pillar of fellowship means to just be around a person. To fellowship means just being physically present or spending time with someone. In our church you will hear the term “fellowshipping” a lot, because we believe it is a way of strengthening relationship. When you are physically around someone for a long time, there is no option but to build some form of relationship.  The third pillar is contribution. At some point of the relationship, you will have to contribute something to the person’s life. Whether it is in the form of an opinion or advice or even contributing something tangible. When you contribute to the church, it is a form of strengthening the relationship with the church. The fourth pillar of divine relationships is participation. Participating in what someone is doing builds a certain bond.

I believe that relationships are vital to our ministries and even for us to succeed in certain aspects of our lives. It is important for us not only to build new relationships, but to maintain those which we already have. In order to build a relationship you must be willing to pay the price for them to work. I pray these 4 pillars of divine relationships will help you build solid relationships in the church.
