PRAYER TOPICS

As I have established in the weeks past, the Bible tells us the importance of prayer. Prayer is the art of speaking to an important person. It is also an appeal to a father figure. When you pray, you are getting a father’s involvement in your life (Matthew 6:9). It is this involvement of a father that prevents your life from being directed by hapinstance or lucky breaks. When you do not pray, your father has no reason to get involved! I have come to see that people cannot pray for two main reasons. First, they have no depth. An ability to pray in your understanding speaks volumes of a person and shows how much depth they have in the Word of God. Secondly, people cannot pray because they are not workers. When you are not a worker you will never be able to pray for long and neither will you be committed to put in the work that is required. Being a worker draws you closer to the Lord.

Matthew 9:38 gives us one of two prayer topics we must all pray for. In it Jesus invites us to pray to the Father to send forth laborers (workers for the harvest). The second prayer we must pray is the most important and highest thing which is to love the Lord with all our hearts (Mark 12:32-34). The Bible tells us that there are three things we must love in order to do the work of the Lord. We must first love God, love the lost (John 3:16) and love the sheep whom Jesus died for and gave His precious life for (John 21:17). If we do not love these three things, we cannot work for the Lord!! As we are here, there is a great work and a great burden. If you are not interested in this work there is a limit on your level  of prayer, closeness and fellowship with God. We must have the desire to get involved with the work of God! We must rise up, pray for laborers and also become laborers ourselves.

Blessings!
